If you need to stick with Mindspring/Earthlink, check out both your modem
and phone lines. I'm currently connecting to Earthlink at 50,666 bps. (And
to be honest, it's more reliable connectivity that anything happening within
IBM these days.)

However, accomplishing this required both replacing my modem (supposed to be
56k, never connected at better than 26.8) AND getting GTE South out to
tinker with some of my phone lines, which they did without a charge.

Best of luck,

K.

| Howdy,
|
| We just moved to this totally amazing house in Bahama last week, and the
| only drawback so far has been the lack of high speed internet access.
Going
| from RoadRunner to a 56k dialup with Earthlink that really connects at
26.8
| is a drag.
|
| Is anyone using ISDN anymore? Are there any good ISPs for ISDN? Earthlink
| limits the hours for ISDN to 100 or 150/month and that isn't going to work
| for me. I guess satellite is still an option, but the initial investment
is
| pretty steep and Verizion is promising DSL out here in the near future so
it
| seems a bit wasteful to spend $700 on satellite equipment.
|
| Here's a few photos of the new house for the curious:

|
| If I had to live with a slow connection it would still be worth it, but if
I
| can find a better connectivity solution that would be great.
|
| Thanks,
|
| Robert
