Well, I don't know about the dead relatives part, but formulaic letters
helped get Netscape to drop their old rendering engine and adopt Gecko,
and has helped move browser vendors towards 100% support for W3C standards.

So, hey - don't knock it.

As for the IE6 vs. Netscape plugins thing - this isn't news, it's not a
big deal (Netscape is deprecating their plugin model) and the only thing
that worries me about it is that they've chosen ActiveX as the glue - not
much good for anything but Windows.
