Silk Road is indeed a great venue. As for music, a local band named
Onomata does some very nice instrumental improv, and has played at the
Silk Road several times. As they aim for a muted ambience, it's perfectly
possible to carry on a conversation at the level they've played. No
website or sound samples for them existing right now, though.
