There were a number of interesting items in the news today. Christina
Dyrness bestows the "Media darling for the Eve of the New Millennium"
award on Vivek Wadhwa of Relativity -- richly deserved. For a long time
I thought of him as just a media whoredog, particularly after his
"casual day" press release stunt last year. But after hearing him on a
panel or two in various conferences, it's obvious that he's actually a
very engaging & personable speaker. So if he is a media darling, well,
he comes by it honestly.

Saffron got a mention, too. No awards, just some VC dough and new
offices already.
The big headline, of course, is the Time-Warner/AOL merger. With AOL
as the acquiring party. According to The Washington Post, the first
move post-merger is to use Time-Warner's TV-cable network to deliver
broadband AOL to the home. A chilling thought: taking the Internet
private. OTOH, it's AOL user; they can keep 'em.
