Here's a link where you can see a diagram of the simplest possible version.
The circles around the edge represent 2-liter bottles that are painted black
on the inside and silver on the outside, leaving a clear window for sunlight
to enter on one side of the bottle. The lines represent tubing that connects
each bottle to its float, coincident with lever arms that communicate torque
back to the central axis. The device sits on a pond, allowing the air in
each bottle to cool during each cycle. So when sunlight strikes the top
bottle, its float inflates, causing the device to tilt over, exposing the
