Has anyone grown?  They are a bush variety, as opposed to vining.

Do I hill like you would for a regular potato?
How far out from the stem do the sw. potatoes grow?

I saw a picture of sweet potatoes being grown in the equivalent of burlap
sacks, where they kept adding soil as the plant grew (source of question),
and the whole burlap sack looks full of sweet potatoes.  I was thinking maybe
4, 5, maybe 6 per plant.  I saw another picture of a field being harvested,
boy, there were lot, but I can't tell how many plants, of course.

I have planted 24 plants.  Naturally, within a few days of planting, we had
several nights just under 32 degrees, and some high wind storms.  I had cut
the bottoms off of milk jugs and made domes to cover the plants (opened the
top during the day to let heat out).  Amazingly they survived.  And I have
wire cages over them to keep the critters from eating them, since they ate
them last year.  I have one planted in a glass bottle in the house to see the
root growth.  The leaves are purple & green - pretty.

Yesterday a/m 31 degrees here briefly.  Unusually cold still and daytime
temps are often still 15-20 degrees below average temps.... which I'm
enjoying.  But all the beans don't seem too happy about the lower
temperatures.  They are growing, but not as fast as last year when it was
much hotter.

Last year, I should have weighed how much yield per plant I harvested (on
avg) of white & red potoes........ just to have an idea of how many plants I
really should be planting.  Internet calculations for yield is by acre, but I
don't know how close the plants are planted, etc.

I have also planted some white cotton, and some green heirloom cotton.  I was
so surprised at what cotton seeds look like !

Carrots are coming up good, although I have added in more seed, in other
sections.

Hope all are well.

history. Is that why most of the folks they trot out there now talking about
how great an amnesty bill would be seem to be either too young to remember or
perhaps are sticking their fingers in their ears and merrily skipping along
as they chant LaLaLa?

Or, am I the only one that remembers 1986?

I was a bit young in '86, and oblivious (most likely). To what specificlly
are you referring?
