Marie,

According to Penn State University, these are likely Asian ladybugs. While they are foul-smelling, they also eat aphids.

My baby sister, the one who owns an ag chemical application business,
assures me that no chemical that is at all compatible with human life
will kill them (not that I spray for anything except serious flea
infestations, and then only when I've lost serious amounts of blood).
The best I've come up with is nearly empty beer bottles (much as I
hate to waste that last quarter inch in the bottle).

I read somewhere that these incredibly prolific little bugs were
imported into the US to fulfill the needs of businesses that sell
ladybugs to gardeners. Do they at least fill the same ecological
niche? I hope they're at least good for that.

Marie, who is tired a faux ladybugs landing in her food and drink
