Nothing like making a flame type comment and then heading off for my 90
minute commute. The only good thing - I went to check my Rodale book on how
long I'd have to blanch tomatoes before I froze them whole and it says I
don't have to - just freeze them on a cookie sheet and put them in freezer
bags. Since I'm only going to have them in the freezer for a month or so,
and I'm naturally lazy, I know have time to write back.

First off I kind of have to apologize, between my growing distrust and
dislike of the press and the disdain I have for most of the medical
profession I had a knew jerk reaction to the comment "45% of doctors
consider quitting if Obamacare passes."

First as to the press - it's the kind of thing they love to report with no
context and without question. The latest example up here has to do with the
possibility of a federal election. When our ruling party was introducing so
called stimulus funding last fall 2 of the other parties were making noises
that is was enough. Now that our budget results are in for the 2nd quarter,
the government is being raked over the coals by the same 2 parties over an
excessive deficit. The same press has forgotten what they reported last
year.

As for the doctors, whether it's the doctors, the specialists, the AMA, the
hospitals, or the insurance companies all I hear is the existing system is
broken, it sucks, it doesn't work - and yet 45% of doctors consider quitting
if Obamacare passes.

What I'm not hearing is "here are our 10 issues with the current system.
We'll work with Obama's czar if we can streamline claim filing, avoid
duplicate filing, get paid within 60 days - whatever". Or here are our
suggestions for ensuring illegal immigrants don't die in the streets but
don't milk our system beyond that.

Now I'm sure some of that negotiating is going on behind the scenes and some
of what we hear is posturing but this brings me back to the press. The sad
fact is that I'm hearing more about your issues through a homesteading list
then I am through any official media outlet.

Anyway I'll get off my box for awhile and go back to freezing tomatoes.

Gil
