O.K., back to answering the questions. Since I don't feel that most of the men who have been in the position as POTUS have respected the position, I find it hard to respect someone who is disrespectful from the get go. Am I clear as mud as usual?? <g>
Your point about "if the problem is the CIA" well, I'm gonna have to go with the old adage put forth by a former POTUS, "the buck stops here." He who is POTUS is ultimately responsible for all those who are under him.
I don't label those who support the current White House resident's health plan Socialists or Communists. I'd label most of them as ignorant or power mad sheople. The vast majority either haven't even read the blooming bills OR don't give a dead rat's patooty and are only concerned with their own agenda. Case in point, Dean on t.v. today. YUCK, and a lie a minute.
As to label all conservatives whatever and all liberals whatever, the problem is that folks need to remember another "truth," you are judged by the company you keep.
Is there a conspiracy or not? Impossible to discuss who influences who without someone screaming conspiracy. Was a lot of what has gone on with the current White House resident influence with a purpose? Sure. People don't fork out the big bucks without expecting to get something in return. Did anyone excpect him to make it to the tippy top? Probably not. But it sure is nice to have a Senator or two or 10 or 20 in your pocket.
As to the internet bill. Sometimes these guys don't make a whole lot of sense, "A Senate source familiar with the bill likened the new power to take control of portions of the Internet to what President Bush did when he grounded all aircraft on Sept. 11, 2001, CNET News reported." Ah, excuse me, but what the heck was wrong with that? You have an untold number of planes flying around playing kamakazi, makes sense to me to ground all non-military aircraft until you sort the whole thing out. Are we perhaps dumb as dirt or arguing apples and oranges or simply arguing for arguements sake?
So, it seems I now have more legislation to read <g> Geez Louise, I need a break. I no sooner finish slogging my way through all the Senate and House healthcare bills and it's fair time and I have to spend a week with youngest (her lambs got 3rd and 4th in market classes, 3rd in the carcass contest, she got a 3rd in showmanship, her two banties both got blues, Best in Division, Second Best in Division and Best in Show and she got a 2nd in poultry showmanship. She also got first with her jam, her cookies, the cake she decorated, her display case and her collage "Made of Trinity" that she made out of burned leaves from last year's fire that she called "Summer of 2008", gotta brag a little <g>) and now you want me to go cross-eyed again. ~~sigh~~ <g>

I've been wondering why no one is talking about the implications of
President Obama's appointments and how that might affect change. Our
country's founding fathers envisioned our system to be one where there
would be an exchange of ideas and hearty, vigorous, impassioned debate
about those ideas, even if the debate became raw or ugly, like it
sometimes does here. I just wish we could stop the mischaracterization,
the hyperbole, the throwing out the baby with the bathwater, and the
inflammatory slander. Perhaps we could start by agreeing to respect the
current AND former Presidents and staff, regardless of our personal
feelings as to their character. We could omit the name calling and
nicknames and be more distinct in our blame than just naming the
president in office at the time. If the problem is the CIA, then we say
the CIA under the first President Bush, or the CIA during President
Obama's Administration or the FBI under Reno's helm, etc. Perhaps we
need to eliminate the broad characterizations and be more specific. To
label all Conservatives as the Religious Right would be inaccurate. To
label all Liberals who support President Obama's healthcare plan as
Socialists or Communists or whatever is also unfair. Likewise, all those
who supported Bush are not Fascist. We are mature, intelligent adults
and I think we can talk about things like this....I WANT to talk about
things like this...I would LOVE to see a serious, non-conspiracy minded
discussion about the possible influence of people like Frank Davis on
our President. Assuming there is influence at all, is it a good thing
or a bad thing? I like to learn about cause and effect. I just read
this article
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/28/senate-president-emergency-control-internet/?test=latestnews
and I am trying to figure out how this can be a good thing. Where is the
ACLU on this? There are all kinds of stories that I would like to see
discussed here.
The other day, on Facebook, Lee posted a satirical link that well, I
don't know how to describe it, but it was about Socialist Fire
Departments-playing off the Socialist Healthcare fearmongering. (and
Lee, I'm assuming that if you don't want me to air this, you will edit
this out of my post) It was quite funny and ingenious, making the point
opposite of the way I feel on the matter. I laughed about it with her
and told her that I am quite proud that I have a very, very diverse
group of Facebook friends and real life friends. When someone whom I
respect, like Lee, posts something like this, it gives me pause to think
that perhaps I have missed something on this issue. I read opposing
views with the hope that I learn something that either forms, challenges
or reinforces my own belief. I am definitely not set in my ways, just
at a point in my life that I am starting to pay more attention and
really attempt to make a stand on things like torture or healthcare, IF
I can gather enough information to make a decision. I've always relied
on this list for that.
