I've always done rescue horses and never had a problem. I've even rescued problem horses and had no trouble fixing the problem They've gone on to win thousands of dollars in all types of events, state awards and national awards, even the mare with a severed tendon and the mare who broke her leg running barrels and the stallion who had a trailer center bar go through his neck. <g>

HOWEVER, I knew what I was doing. So, the best money you can spend, *regardless* of where you get a horse, is to have a complete vet check including blood work done unless you know someone who REALLY knows horses. AND, have a farrier look at the feet. A good farrier can save you a world of hurt because the feet on a horse tell you a whole bunch about how they have been treated and what they can and can't do.

And, you need a horse doc, not just the average run of the mill vet who might treat a horse or two every month or so.

Not only is it a bit expensive, but one size does not fit all. The harness,
and especially the collar, have to fit the horse. The harness is not much
adjustable.

I suspected that. Best to get the horse before the harness then.

Seems expensive until you go to buy even one major part to a tractor.

Tell me about it.

I highly recommend:

Wergerd's Harness Shop
6924 Township Road 323
Millersburg, Ohio 44654

No phone or email, it's Amish all the way. I've done business with him
several times and he's utterly trustworthy. He can also put you onto used harness.

Thanks, I'll keep that information. So you just do business through
the mail? That gives me the idea to ask some local Amish where they
get theirs.

Anyone on the list have any thoughts about a rescue horse?
