It does. If AIG had been forced into bankruptcy, it would have forfeited all
its assents all at once and they would have had to be liquidated almost
instantly at pennies on the dollar. The Fed hopes to sell them off in an
orderly
fashion to keep from dumping all that on the world market all at once ...
that
was the 'disaster' that was averted. AIG as a feasible financial entity is
