I'm glad you find my oddness entertaining, Van Dell. I've always figured that about half of this list had me *blocked* from email because of my weird sense of humor.

Anyway, One day I decided to take my little dog to lunch with me , at an off-busy time (she isn't very sociable) at Hamburger Works. She doesn't like for me to leave home without her and come back smelling of food. I drove because I figured there was a good chance of not being allowed in.

So, we park in the back and go through the bar with her underneath my arm--nobody even noticed. I went into the restaurant part, sat down, put her down in the chair (she was very nervous, I knew she would stay hunkered down). I went up and ordered, made our burgers at the sandwich bar and we ate with no problem. The place is completely staffed by college students. Let me tell you , most of the college students today are not that bright. We ate, went home ---nothing happened

About the third time I took her in , one of the college students was cleaning tables and said something like "is that a dog ?" ("ugh, yes"), then "well you can't have a dog in here"; and I muttered something about her being a special needs dog and that I came in with her all the time, yada, yada. So, she went back in the kitchen area (as you know it is open to the dining area), and I could see her pointing to us with the other people working there and talking. She never came back out to say anything else. After that I took the dog regularly with no questions asked.

Then one day, while we were there eating, one of the college workers was in the dining area and one of the customers asked for a bottle of ketchup, The dog was, as usual, standing on the table top eating her burger. The worker reached over the top of her, for the ketchup --mistake-- . She curled that top lip like Elvis getting ready to sing Dixie and in a split second, I saw her turn from my sweet little baby dog to the canine version of the spawn of Satan. She thought the kid was trying to steal her hamburger. I caught her by her harness ,in midair, about a foot off the table top ,going for the kid's throat. The kid almost fell jumping backward , he turned white (er) , and I'm holding her with both hands while she's jerking and yowling and gnashing her teeth.

I calmed the stupid dog down, apologized and gave the kid the two twenties I had in my money clip. He got over it, and things would have probably blown over, but the main manager was just coming in as I was getting the heck out of there. he started asking me questions about my special needs, I told him that it was the dog that had psychological problems, not me , and that I had never said otherwise. He called me a smart-ass, and I reminded him that he had seen me in there before and never said a word .

I was not angry, I was just try to joke my way out, as usual. He told me I was banned for a year, so I asked him If my wife could still bring the dog in occasionally during my banishment - - he looked dumbfounded. All this time the dog was under my arm looking around for more food--she had already forgotten about the whole incident.

We were written up in the next edition of the local central phoenix historic neighborhood newspaper. That stupid dog has gotten me into other trouble, also, just not as humorous........bobford

LOL Bob,
You must take the same route I used to. I never ate there but it is amazing how often I had to walk past Hooters to get from my office to businesses in the Arizona Center.
Van Dell

Bob,
You once mentioned your dog getting you banned from the Hamburger Works. I wondered if there is a story there that you would like to share with us.

When I make my monthly trek across the entire metro area to
see my psychiatrist, I always stop for lunch at the same
place. The hamburger is the design --
the waitress is the presentation or "shiney
thing".. I lunch at Hooters ...........bobf

That reminds me of design studio. We were supposed to do
a design and then it would be critiqued during a present
ion. The end result was that the majority of our effort
went to making an impressive presentation. The
presentation became the shiny thing.
