I've read this before. Decided to check the numbers.

Twenty-two gallons is 440 gallons of five-percent beer, which is 1,760 quarts, which is 3,560 pints times 16 ounces, which is 56,320 ounces, divided by 12 ounces per beer equals 12.8 beers per day.

Even I drink far fewer than that. Which means that my mileage is far superior.

And of course we homesteaders are not average Americans when it comes to walking.

I am almost certainly getting about five hundred miles per gallon.

My carbon footprint impresses even me.

A recent study conducted by Harvard University found
that the average
American walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study by the American Medical Association
found that
Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a
year.

This means, on average, Americans get almost 41 miles
to the gallon.

Kind Of Makes You Proud To Be An American.
