Also, there are many bugs which animals carry in their guts which the rural
children and adults are exposed to and develop their own immunity in their
guts. One example is the campylobacters. People who have dairy animals and
drink raw milk develop the microbes in their gut which control the
campylobacters. People who never touch a dairy animal and only drink/eat
pasteurized milk, cheese, butter, etc., don't. When we had a dairy farm, we
were warned to not let visiting children who don't drink raw milk have a
glass because they are likely to develop diarrhea. Examples were given of
children taking a school field trip to a farm, being given a paper cup of
raw milk to taste, and winding up in the hospital. I believe that many
people raised around animals have fewer allergies.
