I'm 50 miles north of Detroit. My patch includes a half an acre of wild flower meadow. My brother calls it a field in need of mowing. I have vervain, iron weed, milkweed, butterfly weed, mullien etc. . This season, also cold and wet, I have counted two June bugs, no Monarchs, hordes of dragon flies - especially the big double winged guys. Early in the year we had lots of butter flies and moths but they seem to have left scene. Japanese beetles, e never a problem for me have invaded my gardens. Tomatoes are not setting much fruit and those that have are growing at an agonizingly slow pace.
