Jeff,

In answer to your 3 question survey...

1.    Yes, I try to garden naturally and chemical free until I'm backed into a corner with a serious problem that could kill a favorite plant.

2.    Yes, there seems to be a growing trend towards organic gardening...though slowly growing...! I am also a Master Gardener. Most of the gardeners of all ages that attend Farmer's Markets and other places where Master Gardeners answer questions...want organic, cultural or any solution except using chemicals. Many that ask about chemicals are very satisfied with a non-chemical answer. I think many casual gardeners have been trained to think they must use chemicals...sort of like they must take a pill for an illness or problem in their personal life.

3.    Hmmm...I'm on the fence on this one. I don't seem to see a big majority on either side, however I hang out at Farmer's Markets, special garden events and places that are not the "general" public most of the time. Even when I have volunteered at local nurseries to answer questions...not a clear divide by age.

However, what I do see by age is that older gardeners seem to know it all...you can't tell them anything they haven't tried...and they claim didn't work. Yeah right. Younger gardeners seem more willing to try new approaches, natural products and even plants. Mention mycrorhizae and many older folks eyes roll back in their heads like I'm talking Voodoo dolls!

Hope this helps.

Just my Michigan gardener opinion...I love to give opinions...(:>)

Gee, it has been all too quite on this list.  Let's shake it up a bit and get back to what it was before Lon started censoring all of us. What happened?

So, here are three questions I am interested in for an article.

1. Do you garden organically (naturally if you want)?
2. Is there a growing trend towards organics and away from chemicals amongst your audience, vica versa or status quo?
3. Do you see a divide between "Older gardeners" (40 plus)  who are chemical users and Younger Gardeners (Below 40) who are organic?

Interested in your thoughts. Feel free to respond off list.

See you all in Oka!
