While it is likely the philodendron is getting a little too much water, it
could hold a small amount more if the growing medium had a tiny bit more
potassium and magnesium.  Several years ago a Harvard student published in
SCIENCE a study that showed the importance of K in handling water in dry
situations.  Golf course superintendents routinely apply potassium compounds
in late May or early june to get the fairways etc ready for summer.

Yeah, there is a word for it...it means the air doesn't have enough humidity
and moisture leaks from the leaves....can't remember the word...dissication?

I just received this question from my son. Any ideas?

I’ve got a small philodendron here in the office, which Pam started for me
over a year ago. Amazingly enough, I haven’t killed it, and it seems to be
doing pretty well in an office with little natural light. But, I’ve noticed
that sometimes when I water it, the leaves start “sweating” -  a drop of
water appears on one or two leaves. It’s the weirdest thing. I’ve not heard
of a plant doing that. Am I watering it too much?
