Jeff
I don't know where you are in Alaska--as you pointed out it's a big state--I
have a gardening story from Anchorage. It's an elementary school that is
doing a native plant garden featuring plants from the bush. Students,
parents and grandparents [with, I think emphasis on grandparents] are
involved. I believe they are right close to the Farmer's Market--or Open Air
Market--maybe even across the street. If you'd like me to send you more
information I think I could dig it up. If you do write this up I'd really
like to see that article and, with you permission, print it in the Wild Ones
Journal. Let me know.

Not to mention the acorns!
I just thought I would post the site because things have been way too
quiet here. We need to be sharing information, column ideas and
thoughts.
RIght now Alaskans are convinced of global warming. When I got here
32 years ago, the normal date for first frost was September 15. It
is october 7 and we still have not had one. Whew, that is some
extension from the old days!
Anyone else have "evidence" which, incidently, would include pockets
of cooling...
Cheers,
Jeff L
