Before I discovered West Country gardening gloves, I tried like crazy to convince the glove manufacturers to sell "A Pair with a Spare," i.e., 2 right handed gloves with one lefty. (Of course, you could do the same for left-handed gardeners by selling 2 lefts and one right as a set).
I have a collection of perfectly usable left hand gloves which were orphaned when the right hand mate fell to the rigors of gardening in rocky Connecticut soil. Then West Country gloves came on the market. They wear like iron so my right glove -- although more worn than the left -- is still going! But if you're making a less durable glove, and targeting a market that's interested in lower cost (than West Country), then I would think selling 3 to a set would be a welcome addition to the pantheon of garden helpers for that market.
Thanks for the reference, Lorraine. I buy lots of gloves which I use in
landscaping, gardening,
in the shop and in construction. The West Country gardener's gloves sound
like some I need to add to my
toolroom stocks. I found this link to WC and others:
http://store.emerysgarden.com/gloves.html
Do you have a preferred link to a vendor or the manufacturers's homepage? I
first found out about
other-than-leather gloves from the old Smith & Hawken catalog in an ad for
Japanese Fisherman's gloves.
These are synthetic knit gloves with a durable flex-plastic coating on the
palm side, excellent.
Thanks again,
Lawrence
