Hi!

Last year, someone started a thread about gifts for the gardener.  The ideas were just great so I'd thought I'd start this year's version.

So...please post any suggestions you might have re books, tools, accessories for the greenhouse, etc to the list.

Aside from the always welcome delivery of compost, my suggestions start with a new book, Practical Science for Gardeners by Mary Pratt for those of us who want to know the explanations behind all the things we already know, e.g., what's happening to a plant when it starts to wilt.  I also got a Ross Root Feeder at the end of last summer and found it especially good to use during this past very dry summer to help plants through that drought period.  The Fiskar's transplant spade has turned out to be invaluable through the digging and dividing I did in spring and fall (much lighter than all the others I have used without compromising strength plus it stands up well to stony Ct. soil).  And I'm glad to say that the West Country gloves I've been using are the only pair of gloves with fingertips still in tact over the course of a full year - a first for me!

Thanks!
