Lon, you could first open new lists in a different venue
(such as Yahoogroups) and tell present listmembers where it
is, so they can join at the new locale.

Unfortunately spam has become a part of life like junk mail.  AOL does a reasonable job with email filtering but I have had numerous IM offers this past 10 days of people within '10 miles' of me offering their websites/videocams or whatever,  if I replace the 'something' with a 'dot'.  I strongly suspect that the IM addresses are high-jacked from some innocent person.  In fact my email was used in such a scheme causing a major problem to the whole family.

I know that many of you work on different systems, so filtering is different, but I do hope that this can be worked out somehow. It would be shame for such a worthy ideal to fall because of such irritations.
