Lon, I'm so glad you like Elle. It is indeed a gorgeous hybrid tea rose with
a beautiful color and strong fragrance on long, sturdy stems -- perfect for
cutting and bringing indoors. Enjoy!

ANOTHER STAR® BEAUTY WINS 2005 AARS AWARD
A beautiful shell pink hybrid tea rose with deep yellow undertones, is Star®
Roses latest All-America Rose Selections Winner.
Named for the international fashion magazine, Elle™, ‘Meiberos’ PPAF, is a
classic rose breed to be more fragrant and disease resistant than most roses
in its class. The long stems carry high centered classic rose blossoms that
are strongly perfumed with a spicy and citrus fragrance with a touch of green
banana, making it ideal for cutting and bringing indoors to fill a room with
its sweet scent.
Hardy in zones 5-9, Elle blooms continuous throughout the seasons and is a
vigorous grower with above average tolerance to mildews and black spot than
most classic roses. Growing 3-4 feet tall, the soft multicolored cup like
flower contrasts nicely with the dark shiny foliage. Elle’s compact growth
makes it perfect for small gardens or large containers.
In addition to winning the AARS award, Elle received top honors for fragrance
at Bagatelle in 1999 and the Silver medal in Genève in 1999.
Bred by The House of Meilland in the South of France, Elle will be available
in fine garden centers and nurseries in spring 2005 along with the complete
line of The Conard-Pyle Company’s Star Roses.

center near you that carries Star Roses and Star Plants, visit

How many others here have been testing the new "Elle" rose? I don't
know if you would call it a floribunda or a shrub rose. When it first
bloomed, the initial blossoms didn't seem that promising. After most
of a summer, I'm very impressed with the sheer health of the plant.
Even right next to a rose with a serious amount of black spot, it's as
clean as I've ever seen. The flowers are still a little imperfect,
with odd petals sticking out, but most of the time the mass of blossoms
takes your eye away from any individual imperfections. Right now it's
in a spell between flushes of bloom, but the mass of buds coming looks
like we'll get one more really good show before the end of the season.
