Also,
I was wrong that it was Origen who attributed Mark as founder of Alexandrian
churches, but rather Eusebius, as well as Jerome ("De Vir Illust" viii), and
the Apostolic Constitutions (VII, xlvi) by Epiphanus ("Haer" li, 6).
Eusebius also says Mark's first successor in Alexandria was Anianus, in the
8th year of Nero (61-2). This doesn't necessarily mean Mark was martyred then
(if so it would be inconsistent with Timothy), but only that Anianus took
over the See.
