Hello,

I have been trying to install Apache + PhP + Freetds in order to run a
website which connects to a SQLSERVER.

My first issue was regarding PHP compilation with the
-with-msqql=/usr/local/freetds parameter which returned the following message:

Directory /usr/local is not a FreeTDS installation directory

Following instructions found on this list, I created the tds.h and libtds.a
using the touch command and then I was able to install and compile PHP

Now I´m having trouble testing the FREETDS installation.

These are the steps I did to install and test:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/freetds

Make

Make install

Once installed, I typed:

./tsql -H <ip_address> -p 1433 -U <username>

The result was:

locale is "en_US.UTF-8"

locale charset is "UTF-8"

Password:

I typed in the password and the result was:

Msg 20009, Level 9, State -1, Server OpenClient, Line -1

Unable to connect: Adaptive Server is unavailable or does not exist

There was a problem connecting to the server

I can connect to the SQL SERVER via Telnet

Any tips on whats is wrong?

Thank You,

Frederick Pohl
