Great, with that help I went on. And I got a bit further.... The script now
looks like this:

$dbhost = "SERVER:PORT"; //where Port is the special port for that
database-instance
$dbuser = "USER";
$dbpass = "PASSWORD";
$dbbank = "DATABASE";
$dbtable1 = "TABLE1";
$dbtable2 = "REISEN"; //I have to leave this, because of the
error-message
$dbms = mssql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass);
mssql_select_db($dbbank);
$sql = "select field1, field2, field3, field4, field5, field6, field7 from
$dbtable2"; //this returns the next error
$res = mssql_query($sql, $dbms);

The error message is:

Sybase: Server message: Invalid object name 'REISEN'. (severity 16,
procedure N/A) in PHPSCRIPT

REISEN is one of the tables included in the database. Do I have to add any
suffix to make the database understand?

Sincere regards
Kay
