All,
There have been a few patches posted to the list lately, always a good
sign. I would like to mention, if I might, a couple of things that make
my job easier.
It's better to post a patch as an attachment than as in-line text. They
tend to get mangled by email systems: tabs become spaces, lines get
wrapped.
If you want to be sure your patch won't get forgotten or lost in the
shuffle, post it to Source Forge instead. A message is sent to the list
automatically (or should be), notifying everyone of the patch.
If you don't see any response to your patch within a week, assume it was
overlooked (for the most benign of reasons). Post a reminder. If a patch
isn't up to snuff, I'll say so; if it is, it goes in. Silence is
accident.
"diff -u" is the preferred form. I never thought it would happen, but I
can basically read them and merge them in my head.
I'm not the only one who applies patches, but I think the above represents
a consensus.
Keep 'em coming, please. Each rev is better than the last.
