Ah, I was not aware of that. So an ODBC library isn't
even necessary, then? That's good to know!

I realized this when another poster suggested I set
the "TDSDUMPCONFIG" variable, to make sure that
'freetds.conf' is being read. It was, but of course
was unable to find a section called '10.10.170.10'.
Once I added that section, then the 'freetds.conf' was
being read properly.

My apologies for the confusion, which is
understandable :-) The dump log was from the new
server, which is the one I am having troubles with.
The port 4000 came from the current server, which *is*
working properly. The error has since been discovered
and corrected.

This is looking to be more and more like a PHP
problem, so I will be posting to that list as well,
but in the meantime, any other suggestions are
appreciated.
