Speak up, I can barely hear you through this asbestos suit I had to put on
the other day...

I don't understand the last patch...if some replacement functions aren't
needed, they shouldn't be included in the Makefile, and the HAVE_foo stuff
is redundant. If nothing else, A DCL script could easily be conjured up to
preconfigure the build and decide which replacement modules need to be
compiled. Am I missing something?
