I'm now using mssql 2000 with NAI's sniffer pro to decode it. the 0x12 is a
packet type byte not described in any document.
I think it maybe a new feature that supported by MS. maybe the login record
is decoded.

Some dump may help... (please use a temporary test account)
What software are you using ?
0x12 are a PDU type (packet type, first byte) or a type contained in a
language packet?
