Yes. I've read both of them, several times, very carefully.

Did this. I just called mine [TDS].

Did this, but I called it TSDdev2. Using `Driver = TDS' failed for me (it
couldn't find the driver file) but putting `Driver = /path/to/driver.so' did
work for the EasySoft ODBC bridge and did stop the can't-load-driver errors
for FreeTDS.

I don't have one of these. Does it go in the --prefix directory (/usr in my
case) or the --sysconfdir directory (/etc)? What is the magic hex number for?

Did this for TDSdev2 (but TDS 7.0 for SQL Server 7, and port 1433).
