What may be happening: 0.53 is failing to pick up your protocol, failing to
log in, and segfaulting because of that. The current
soon-to-be-released-as-a-major-motion-picture snapshot deals with that
scenario much more gracefully, BTW.
Quick fix: export TDSVER=7.0 (or export TDSVER=4.2) and try sqsh again.
Your shell may vary, of course. ;)
