Your question will have to be more specific for anyone to help you. Say
what software you're using (java? perl? C?) and what troubleshooting
you've already done, according to the User Guide. Once you've done
that, you should be able to get connected or find someone who can help
you.
To answer what you asked, no, it's not normal. But it frequently begins
that way. :)
