My guess is that autoconf is broke. TDS 5.0 is the default and we did
something to screw up configure.in on non-Linux platforms (although I'd
like to hear from Solaris/FreeBSD/etc.. users on a recent snapshot to see
how some of the more mainstream platforms faired).
