I think you're trying to get more out of a snapshot than is practical. A
snapshot is just that - a snapshot of the code at a moment in time.

The freetds source is all in CVS. You can ckeckout the source based on
revision date or you can use the good ol' diff command to compare snapshot
sources with other revisions.

I think your time would be better spent learning CVS instead of bitching
about snapshots not having better version tags.
