You'll need two things. First the FreeTDS C libraries (specifically
ctlib). You need to configure these with the --with-tdsver=4.2 (or 7.0,
but that is experimental at this point). Once made and installed you'll
need the DBD::Sybase module for Perl. (Sybase and MS SQL use the same
protocol, so it works despite its name ;-)

Once you install freetds you'll need to add an entry in
/usr/local/freetds/interfaces for the dataserver you want to access.
