I just checked in a number of changes to dblib and the underlying tds
library.
I tried your php script and it connected to SQLServer 6.5 with
php-3.0.5 from FreeBSD 2.2.7. I don't really know anything about php
so I just configured php like 'configure--with-sybase=/usr/local/freetds'.
I had to add '-ltds' to the LIBS in the Makefile. Other than that I
didn't have to do anything special. You might give the new code a
try. Either get it from the anon-cvs or ftp it from
ftp://freetds.internetcds.com/pub/freetds/freetds.snapshot.tgz
