2022 Master Composter Training

Application Deadline: 5:00pm on Friday, March 4th

MEETS: (7) Wednesday evenings, 6:00–8:30pm, from March 16–May 4 (except April 6)

PLUS: (1) Saturday field trip, 1:00–5:00pm on April 30

Training classes held mostly over Zoom, with 2 or 3 of the later classes and the field trip held in-person and outdoors (Ithaca area)

Help reduce waste, protect the environment, and improve gardens by teaching others to compost in Tompkins County!

Join other enthusiastic volunteers for 7 in-depth, weekly classes, 1 weekend field trip and ~2 hours/week of practical learning outside of class. Classes cover a variety of compost and education topics that will prepare you to become a compost educator in Tompkins County. The training outside of class includes hands-on composting, teaching (or assisting) at classes, researching compost topics, and designing an independent volunteer project. After training, use your new compost know-how and teaching experience to help others in the community.

Training classes held every Wednesday evening, 6:00 – 8:30pm, from March 16th to May 4th. To accommodate Cornell’s spring break, class will not be held on April 6th. Classes in the first half of training will be conducted virtually over zoom, while 2 or 3 of the later classes and the field trip will be held outdoors and in-person.

For more information, including the volunteer Job Description, the online and PDF versions of the application, and instructions for applying, visit http://ccetompkins.org/mc . To be considered for the 2022 training class, please apply by close of business (5:00pm) on Friday, March 4th.
