Call for Workshops – Farm to Plate Conference, Ithaca, NY
Ithaca, NY—
Groundswell
Center for Local Food & Farming, is pleased to announce “The Farm
to Plate Conference: Uniting
to Create, Educate, and Celebrate a Sustainable Local Food System”
which will take place on May 11-13, 2017 in Ithaca, NY and the surrounding
areas.
The conference is a collaborative effort by Cornell Food, Agroecology, Justice and Well-being Collective at Cornell, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Crooked Carrot, Groundswell Center, Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute, Roots Rising Farm, Jay Smith, Bobby Smith, the Tompkins County Food Policy Council and the Youth Farm Project.
The Farm to Plate conference, originally conceptualized by Damon Brangman founder of Roots Rising Farm, has a vision to bring together people from multiple sectors of our community to collectively develop strategies towards creating resilience in the food system. The goals of the conference are to:
- Honor our ancestors, the abundance of the land, and regional farmers
- Equitably share resources, and collaborate to create a sustainable food network
- Build campus/ community relations, based on themes of health, food justice, & agro-ecology
- Celebrate the vibrant food and farming culture of the Finger-lakes region
Call for Workshops! Honorariums provided. Due March 15.
Call for Papers! Due March 8.
The Farm to Plate Conference is funded in part by the Park Foundation, the Cornell Polson Institute for Global Development, the Cornell Einaudi Center for International Studies. In an effort to keep conference attendee costs low or zero, we welcome business sponsorship and individual donations.
