Hello,I'm writing to share some exciting news. A small group of rural women have come together to create the Rural Women's Coalition of Central New York! Our mission is to provide networking opportunities by rural women for rural women to improve rural livelihoods. However, we will work with ALL women regardless of their residence! The Rural Women's Coalition of Central New York is network of rural women and their allies seeking to address issues such as rural poverty, education, access to sustainable agricultural resources/education for women, and greater access to resources such as food security, public health and education for rural women, families and communities. The Rural Women's Coalition will hold monthly gatherings throughout the region. We will offer a speaker series across a wide range of topics. Special events are open to the public, and we are organizing a weekly market of locally made products created and grown by rural women in Central New York. The Rural Women's Coalition of CNY will be participating in the 12th Annual Rural Women's Assembly at Binghamton University in December 2017, and is a member of the National Rural Leadership Development Network.Membership is free and we welcome all women regardless of their residence to participate. We define 'rural women' as those who reside in rural areas or towns with populations less than 5,000 from throughout Central New York- including but not limited to the counties of Oswego, Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga, Jefferson, Lewis, Cortland.Currently, the Rural Women's Coalition of CNY is planning our first gathering in late February and our 2017 RWC Market!
