“Plant This Movie” Documentary Film Screening
and Q&A with Director Karney Hatch Tuesday, April 21, 6:30pm at The Space at Greenstar, 700 West Buffalo Street, Ithaca
Free screening of “Plant This Movie” (2014), a documentary that examines the evolution and impact of urban farming around the world, followed by a Q&A session with film director Karney Hatch. The film explores success stories such as Havana, Cuba and visits other communities of urban farmers in Shanghai, Calcutta, Addis Ababa, London and Lima. In the U.S., the story focuses on innovative projects in New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Portland OR-- including the largest rooftop garden in the world, blighted areas transformed into urban farms, student-run gardens and CSA, and other projects that show the explosion of creative local efforts. Screening is free and open to the public, funded in part by the GPSAFC, and sponsored by the New World Ag & Environment Group (NWAEG) and Food, Agriculture, and Nutrition Grads (FANG) at Cornell, with the Gardens 4 Humanity program at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County.
