Seed Saving Techniques: Harvesting, Cleaning, Drying and Storing

Monday September 15, 6-8 pm

CCE Tompkins, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca

Cost: $5-$10 sliding scale

Seed saving is a fun skill that can deepen your understanding of plant propagation and save you money on yearly seed expenses. We will harvest and clean seeds from the CCE seed-saving garden, including tomatoes, beans, lettuce and summer squash. Participants will get hands-on experience harvesting and cleaning seeds to take home for their own gardens and will learn the best techniques for drying and storing saved seeds. A selection of heirloom tomatoes will be available for tasting and for participants to take home and save the seeds for next year's garden.

Pre-registration is strongly recommended so we have participants' contact information in the event of class cancellation. Call 272-2292 or email cab69 AT cornell.edu to register.
