2013 Spring Garden Fair & Plant Sale

Saturday, May 18, 9:00am-2:00pm

at Ithaca High School, 1401 N. Cayuga Street off Rt. 13, Ithaca NY

After 3 years at other locations, the Spring Garden Fair & Plant Sale is back at Ithaca High School – with an extra hour to shop!  Over 30 area growers and 5 local garden groups will offer a huge variety of annuals, herbs and specialty perennials at the largest Garden Fair in our region! Find organically grown and heirloom vegetable transplants, flowering shrubs, trees, hardy roses, fruit crops and MORE!  FREE admission!  FREE soil pH testing by CCE's Master Gardeners.  Educational exhibits, food concession, and hands-on activities for kids with Ithaca Children's Garden.  Customers should bring wagons or carts to help transport purchases to your car.  For more information about the event and a list of vendors, visit http://ccetompkins.org/plantsale or call (607) 272-2292Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County Master Gardeners.

Did you know that Food Stamps can be used to help you start your vegetable garden?

USDA regulations allow Food Stamp/SNAP recipients to purchase “seeds and plants that produce food for the household to eat”. This year, the Spring Garden Fair & Plant Sale will accept Food Stamp/SNAP payments for eligible food-producing plants and seeds, using the familiar system that already is used for accepting these payments at local farmers’ markets.  Customers can visit the EBT table located in the courtyard near the school entrance to have their EBT card swiped and receive tokens to use to pay the plant vendors.
