Planning and Planting a Seed-Saving Garden
Thursday, May 2, 6:30 -8:30 pm
at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca
Learn how easy it is to incorporate seed saving in your garden by growing vegetables that you can eat and still harvest seed from. You will learn the basics of getting started with seed saving, then we will do some hands-on planting in the seed saving demonstration garden at CCE.  Cost: $5-$10 (self-determined sliding scale). Seed Saving Techniques: Selection, Rogueing and Hand-Pollination
Wednesday, July 3, 6:30 -8:30 pm
at Cooperative Extension Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca NY
This class will cover some techniques that will help you save healthy, viable seed for next year’s garden. You will gain hands-on experience in learning to select the best plants for seed production, rogueing out off-types, identifying disease symptoms on seed-bearing plants, and will learn how to hand-pollinate crops like summer squash to prevent out-crossing. Seed Saving Techniques: Harvesting and Drying
Wednesday September 4, 6:30 – 8:30 pm
at Cooperative Extension Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca NY
How do you know when your seeds are ready to harvest? This hands-on class will include collecting seed from the CCE seed saving demonstration garden, fermentation of tomato seeds, and drying and packaging techniques for long-term storage/  Cost: $5-$10 (self-determined sliding scale).
