Meeting Our Energy Needs with Conservation and Renewable Energy

Sat, Dec 8, 2012 – 7 to 9 pm (or until everyone leaves)
Newfield Fire Hall, 77 Main St., Newfield, NY

The event will begin with a screening of the film “Empowered – Power from the People” featuring Tompkins County residents who are contributing to American energy independence and sustainability by incorporating both energy conservation measures and a range of renewable energy technologies into their homes and businesses.

Afterwards there will be a discussion with the following guests from the film:

Director Shira Golding (leasing options for solar PV)
Producer Suzanne McMannis (off-grid solar PV and wind)
David Means (grid-tied solar PV)
Annie Korman and Carolyn Kreisel (geothermal heat and grid-tied solar PV)
Sarah Highland  (small off-grid solar system and green building)
Lily Gershon from the Dacha Project  (off-grid, solar, and solar thermal -- hot water)

This is an excellent opportunity to engage with many of the people who appear in the film who will be generously giving up their Sat evening to help Newfield folks and others get a better idea of what is involved in adopting and living with renewable energy. Just about every techology is represented.

Also appearing (disappearing?): Cookies, popcorn and apple cider (Newfield’s own Littletree)!
