Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program Manager - Job Opening
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program seeks a highly motivated, organized and reliable individual to work 20 hours/week during the 2011-2012 school year to provide two servings of fresh fruits and vegetables, mostly local and organic, every school day to every classroom at Beverly J. Martin Elementary School in Ithaca, NY.
Salary: $12.00/hour

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program seeks a highly motivated, organized and reliable individual to work 20 hours/week during the 2011-2012 school year to provide two servings of fresh fruits and vegetables, mostly local and organic, every school day to every classroom at Beverly J. Martin Elementary School in Ithaca, NY.
Position Description: Prepares fresh fruits and vegetables for Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program and supervises program. Responsibilities include: purchasing, customer service, sanitation and cleaning procedures, supervision and coordination
of on-site volunteers.
Schedule: 20 hours per week; 8am-12pm. Follows ICSD academic calendar
Qualifications: Good knowledge of preparing and purchasing fresh produce in large quantities; good knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in food preparation and serving; ability to plan and supervise work of others; effective and resourceful interpersonal skills (including ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, administrators, faculty, staff and vendors); positive attitude; ability to work independently and as a team member. Individual must be responsible and have the ability to supervise an elementary school snack program. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program is a component of Ithaca Community Harvest (ICH), the collaborative initiative working to create, sustain and expand a system for providing access to local organic
produce to youth and families in Ithaca’s public schools, with particular focus on historically marginalized populations. ICH is a collaborative effort of the Village at Ithaca with GreenStar Community Projects, Greater Ithaca Activities Center, Groundswell
- Ithaca Crop Mob, Ithaca City School District, Southside Community Center, Youth Farm Project, and Gardens 4 Humanity, Healthy Food For All, Whole Community Project and the Nutrition Program at Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County.
