Not really. His name was Yahosef bar Qayafa meaning his father was named Qayafa. Calling someone by their patronym was not unusual as in the case with Barnabas....bar Naba, Bartholomew..bar Tolmay, Barsabas...bar Zaba. In the case of Caiaphas, the Qayafa family tomb has been found, including the High Priests ossuary inscribed twice in Aramaic.
