I have recently published a book entitled Paul's Seven Explanations of the
Suffering of the Righteous (2002) in which I investigate Paul's
interpretation of righteous suffering against a Jewish religious-historical
background. This could be of use to someone interested in the Jewish
understanding of suffering in the second-Temple period.

Greetings in Jesus' precious name!

I am interested in Paul's indebtedness to Jewish traditions when it comes
to his understanding of suffering, especially the "interrelationship"
between suffering, judgment and righteousness. I wonder whether anyone can
help in this area. And are there introductory materials (books, articles,
etc) on the Jews' understanding of suffering in the second Temple period?

Many thanks!
