I would add that a lot of these examples are not apposite to the
Crispus/Sosthenes issue. Joseph, Simon, John, and Judas were
very common names at the time and their frequency often demanded
a distinguishing name. Even so, the person was often still known
by the original name. This really leaves only Bar-Jesus/Elymas
and Paul/Saul as possible counter-examples.

Interestingly enough, the case of Bar-Jesus/Elymas has parallels
to the Crispus/Sosthenes situation. In both instances, the
person's position is repeated with the new name: Acts 13:6 TINA
MAGOS ... hWi ONOMA BARIHSOU, v8 ELUMAS hO MAGOS; 18:8 KRISPOS
DE hO ARXISUNAGWGHS, v17 SWSQENHN TON ARXISUNAGWGON.
