This seems to be, in Paul's mind, a very real
possibility. My question is: to what extent
were early Christian assemblies or worship
meetings considered to be "public space"?
To what extent do you think unbelievers were

not in private homes?

Daniel,
I have suggested that the Corinthians church did meet in something other than private homes in my book, Church and Community Conflicts  (Scholars Press, 1999), pp. 203-5, based on this text and the practices of both collegia and synagogues in Graeco-Roman cities.
