It is well to remember that the Romans destroyed the city of Corinth in
the 2nd century BCE and Julius Caesar rebuilt the city a century later.
Though there may have been some continuity of population, Julius also brought
in many Roman freemen to populate his new city. Much of the Greek population
of Roman Corinth came from other Greek cities. In other words continuity of
traditions should not be assumed between the Corinth of Herodotus which
rivaled Athens and the Corinth which Paul visited. As Corinth was always a
center of trade it did tend to be libertine (or at least hold that
reputation). But libertine is not necessarily synonymous with sacred
prostitution.
I understood that sacred prostitution was associated more with the temple
of Diana/Artemis in Ephesus. However the texts escape me at the moment.
